      If the device must use the cloud, and you do not have access to the firmware source code, it could happen in the future.

      Louis Rossman said something along the lines of this a while back: when one company gets worse, it’s not good enough to switch to another company, because enshittification is a universal corporate issue, and it will affect all of us sooner or later.

      That’s only because they don’t have the market share. If Apple ever becomes dominant in this arena they would absolutely take the opportunity.

      That’s debatable. Unless you have the TV button open the home screen and not the Apple TV app, Apple TV+ content when not subscribed can be seen ads.
