      And you think the Chinese would allow the press to know they’re being hacked in return? It’s absolutely a rights issue.

        The US Government informs the press of hacks because and when it suits the interests of the US Government, not because it’s required by the constitution.

        I for one, would dearly like to know the exact KIA figures since our latest adventure, and an open assessment of our bases in the region, but, guess what? Telling me would not suit the interest of the government, so they don’t.

          To paraphrase some random paragraph from a rather extensive law about hacking:

          “All 50 U.S. states, Washington, D.C. and three federal territories have requirements for the reporting of Incidents, and most of these statutes require reporting to state regulators. The nature and scope of the information that must be reported varies by state or territory.”
