I simply cant trust a vendor who uses ai promotions for their product. Whos to say where the buck stops with their ai usage? Are they using ai to “optimize” their recipes? You think they were using too much sawdust before…

Almost half the ads have ai content in them. Wtaf? No, I’m not done boycotting your product over this. And I won’t be for a good while.

I was at a toilet in a house yesterday and it had a beautiful framed picture of a cat on a toilet. Upon closer look it was obviously AI generated. I was sad, as I knew this type of style and art had to come from artists that actually put in the time and sweat to be able to draw this way.
The average person won’t care. We are the stupid ones, thinking unique human touch is a selling point for average consumers.
It’d surprise you how many people dislike AI. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t hate it.
Even my nearly 70 year old father hates it. Not because he’s pro-paying artists or concerned about the environment (although it plays a part cause he loves his animals and nature), but because of how tacky it looks and how much the rich are profiting from it.
I won’t give in. I will die on this hill. Fuck AI, all of it.
Not all of it. LLM’s do have some genuinely beneficial functions that could make society better for everyone, like assisting ATCs to prevent mistakes, but of course capitalism has corrupted AI beyond all reckoning.

I was talking with a guy today, told me my designs were “awful”. To be fair, at the time he didn’t know the designs he was critiquing were my handiwork and there were extenuating circumstances such that the designs were by committee so I did some things that no man should ever do or see or be told to do … it was only because I had to.
Long story short, he starts talking about his designs, seemed to be looking for praise. He pulled out his phone to show me and ya’ll … they were AI. I even asked, did you use AI for that, and he was like “Obviously”. Yes, of course, obviously. That’s why I asked.
What is much more dangerous is not the ai slop we can see or recognise, but how easy it is to pull off good artwork using theft + ai. You are now seeing on a massive scale people taking images of other original artists, usually small unknown artists and then feeding that image through and prompting on top of that. Then claiming it as your own. I now fully realise I cannot trust anything without further looking into someone and their methods.
I am lucky insofar that no one will mistake my art for AI generated and no one will ever want to steal my art. Finally, it is time for the mediocre artists to shine!

My local bar in a small rural village is currently advertising an event with crappy AI posters. I can’t fault them, since “everyone” is doing it, but it’s awfal taste. The alternative would’ve been a chalkboard on the curb.
A sign literally written with shit would be more interesting and engaging than anything ai would ever make.

Using AI to sell a product is false advertising.
Fake food on commercials and menus are another example, it’s everywhere in the USA because our laws are written by McDonald’s tm and other political “donors”.
The problem is that they’ve always been false advertising. They’re never punished for it. They’ve been showing massive, fresh burgers for decades in ads, and the real product looks nothing like that. It long predates the AI slop era we find ourselves in.
And a lot of normies will call you stupid for caring because “everyone knows” and “it’s always been that way”. But I bet you if you conducted a poll or some kind of blind study where the participants are shown the ad, without the brand name, and then the product, almost no one would say the picture represents the product accurately for most of these fast food chains.
I think there are laws restricting fake food in ads, at least on TV. Like you can’t use glue to represent mayo or stuff like that
Not if you’re selling whole burgers, but the “set dressings” are allowed to be fake.
You can use fake pancakes to advertise a syrup, and fake syrup to advertise pancakes. McD’s can’t use fake mayo on pictures of burgers, but you can use it in the “serving suggestion” picture if you’re selling frozen burger patties.
Also, even when it is real there can be trickery involved, like using the correct portion size but moving all the ingredients to one side of the sandwich to make it look like there’s more than there is.
They do that IRL with convenience store sandwiches in Japan. They cut them in half and shove everything toward the exposed side and then wrap them so you can’t see the less-filled back side.

you go to the fair or a street fest and 98% of stands have AI generated pictures of food… like idk what you’re advertising but it’s not whatever you’re gonna sell me so why would i take my chances?
