“Don’t boycott GTA 6. Win justice for the people who helped make it. We spent years pouring our hard work, skill, and creativity into making GTA, and we want people to experience the universe that we helped build,” former developers said. “That doesn’t mean we want to let Rockstar off the hook.”
This guy does not understand how capitalism works.

I’m at the conclusion that their work visas expired, and they need the game to succeed in order to stay in
I would have already found another job to keep my visa valid.
I can see two or three reasons.
They have an ongoing lawsuit with R*, probably not the best optics to call for a boycott. Calling for the opposite shows you in a good light however. Always want to be seen as dealing in good faith when it comes to court.
Artists want their art to be seen by the world, even if they don’t directly benefit from it anymore.
They don’t want to be seen as vengeful by potential future employers.
1&3 seem plausible. 2) Not so much, since everyone of these unionists are merchandising their portfolios. If it’s about the art, they can redo mockups of the work they want others to see in the game that hasn’t been completed. For all we know, R⁎ will cut their works out.
Is iffy for two reason: plenty of non gamedev jobs out there that don’t do history checks, esp. on a work visa. They did make themselves public though.
feels like the closest reason, as they have already declared themselves disassociates from the leaker. Maybe they want the court to see they were wrongfully terminated, and “should be compensated.”
For point 2 the art is the entire game, not a single model or whatever.
Most people also don’t want to change industries just because of a firing and they’re going to be pretty well known in the industry due to the lawsuit, in a way an employee may not necessarily want to be. Also, not all were on work visas, there were locals too. They now need to find new jobs and probably want to do it in the same industry, in the same city where they live.
Yeah, but R⁎ can remove the entire parts they worked on the game entirely, making exposure a gamble.
Fair point about transitioning, not one I sympathize. (changed industries 15 times already )
How does that make any sense? These people no longer work for Rockstar, the game’s success has absolutely no bearing on their lives any more.
I am equally dumbfounded as well.
If only there was some way to address these unionists what demands need to be met, and what their goals truly are.
I know for sure they can’t syndicate. Not on work visas.
