As the tales of Ozymandias are so well known, I shan’t repeat them here.
This is too poignant for a shitpost
The fable of Ozymandias is doubly meaningful. Because Ozymandias was the Greek name for Ramses II, who happened to be
commonly known as Ramesses the Great, was the third pharaoh of the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt. Ramesses II is often regarded as the greatest, most celebrated, and most powerful pharaoh of the New Kingdom, which itself was the most powerful period of ancient Egypt. He is also widely considered one of ancient Egypt’s most successful warrior pharaohs, conducting no fewer than 15 military campaigns, all resulting in victories, excluding the Battle of Kadesh, which is generally considered a stalemate. His 66-year rule was also the longest recorded reign of any pharaoh.
He was the epitome of ancient Egypt, which is itself the epitome of ancient civilizations. The dude was fully right to boast after all!
“This too shall pass”, even for emperors of the world.
That’s true. In the end nothing lasts, not even the greatest achievement magnified one thousand or one billion times. Time and the vast universe will wash away and dilute it all into background noise on any scale you can imagine.
One can only have their time and their space, and no more.

Ive sometimes had the thought that an alternate reading of that story could be that Ozymandias’s works really were so great as to cause the almighty to despair, so much as to be motivated to destroy them out of spite.
Ozymandias was the throne name for Ramsesses II also know as the great. He ruled Egypt at its peak for 70 years and left many great works.
