Because if not what was he expecting? It was obvious people will find out and just stop using it. Not a specific group of users will stop using it but everyone. So what’s the point?
Edit: So this project was abandoned about a year ago. Looks like the creator had some issues. Why are people still using dead project? How was it discovered just now?
So he came back? Apparently that was the message he posted a year ago:
This project has been discontinued and the repo archived. I am done with Lemmy, the Fediverse as a whole, and have no desire to continue developing for the platform or (especially) the demographic thereof.
So many red flags. People really need to check what they are hosting.

It was last updated 2 weeks ago, dev deleted project within last 24 hours due to this backlash.

From what I understand @[email protected]/@[email protected] does the whole ‘I’m quitting forever’ thing every so often.
It was forked yesterday by db0 (to strip the censorship) here and you can see the commits made by the original dev 2 weeks ago.
