I feel for you, sometimes I forget to be appreciative for things like this.

The whole thing was as uncomplicated as it can be. I was at the doctor’s for a regular checkup, during the little interview I mentioned I was taking vitamin d to alleviate the symptoms of almost no sunlight during the winter (working nights), she then explained the vitamin d - potassium relation and took some blood to check. I got the results a couple days later via email and that was that. As it was during a regular checkup it was also free of charge.

It’s awesome to be in a place where I don’t even have to actively seek out that kind of medical attention. I got an email reminding me of the checkup with some possible appointments, I clicked on one, two weeks later I mention the vitamin d in passing and it gets tested in a timely manner for free. Easy as that. I had bowel movements more complicated than that.

My father grew up in (West) Germany, and I studied German as a child (Hallo! Ich bin MnemonicBump und ich komme aus America woher kommst du?, etc, etc), and I really wanted to move to Hamburg when I was a teen. But it turns out that your country doesn’t want an undereducated neurotic American, so alas, I’m stuck here.
