minus-squareLemmyTellYou@lemmy.cafelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up37arrow-down2·1 day agoI’m not disputing that Palworld isn’t popular, but I hate when companies advertise with “40M players” 40M purchases is fine, which is very impressive for a paid game. If I buy a game, never play it or play it once, then I’m not ‘playing’ that game.
minus-squaretomi000@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up38arrow-down1·1 day agoWell they cant say 40M owners because that would be a lie as well.
minus-squareLemmyTellYou@lemmy.cafelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up24·1 day ago“Copies sold” is a much better measure It bugs me when GW2 also does this with “over 12 million players” when actually it’s registered accounts. I know people who have and use multiple POF accounts obtained freely, including a guy who literally has 83 accounts and uses them all every reset.
minus-squarethingsiplay@lemmy.mllinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·20 hours agoI think they include Game Pass players as well. So it sold probably less then 40 million, therefore they go with the “Players”.
minus-squaretomi000@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up5·1 day ago “Copies sold” is a much better measure Definitely. I was being sarcastic, not trying to defend the wording.
minus-squarejaybone@lemmy.ziplinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up11·1 day agoSorry, did we say players? We meant “40M payers”
