“Can I just say fuck AI, fuck AI, fuck AI?” the comedian, actor, and rotating host of The Daily Show asked in his keynote speech during the Class Day celebration on Wednesday. The crowd at Tercentenary Theatre, made up of the graduating Class of 2026 and their friends and families, answered him with a roar of approval.
I wouldn’t be unhappy if he took over the daily show, but I would prefer Desi.
Josh, tho. Dude kills it every single time and is so damn likable.
The current rotation is killer. We won’t appreciate this golden age until it sucks again (sorry Trevor).
I think Josh Johnson is the best choice, to be honest - my only issue with him is that he might be too young.
Regardless, I think the best choice would have been Roy Wood Jr. but that ship has long since sailed.
I was hoping for Roy Wood Jr. I was sad when he left.
Same. But, it’s important to remember he specifically left because he was passed over for the host position.
Basically said something to the effect of “if there’s nothing to work towards I’d rather not be here in anymore” which I completely understand and respect.

Desi’s great! The multiple host approach seems to be working out pretty well, so maybe they’ll just keep it that way.
