minus-squarePresident Camacho@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up42arrow-down1·4 天前Paying to play online is what got me off the consoles. 100$ per year x 10 years = a pretty decent pc. (At least until recently). The PS4 is the last console I’ll ever own.

minus-squareYellowParenti@lemmy.wtflinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up20·4 天前I bought a replacement video card on 2019. It was replacing my 10 year old card. When I built my new PC, it was replacing a pc I begrudgingly installed win7 on. I have emulators from up to PS2. Pc gaming has crazy ROI.
minus-squareFlashMobOfOne@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up9·4 天前Seriously is. You can have whole console collections of Roms and they only take up a speck of your external hard drive. Glorious.
minus-squarePresident Camacho@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·3 天前Well, when you add the cost of the console to the cost of the online subscription… Not sure the pc is all that much more expensive. Also, just with Steam sales, the amount of money you save is pretty impressive. Lastly, when that pc dies, my next pc will still be able to play all the games from the previous pc. Not quite the case with consoles. All around, pc is a clear winner. Did I mention I installed Bazzite? It rocks. Microslop gets to eat a bag of dicks and to me, that’s worth all the money in the world.

minus-squareUlrich@feddit.orglinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·3 天前They’re not more expensive when you factor in lower game costs and zero subscriptions.

minus-squarethe16bitgamer@programming.devlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·4 天前That was the Switch for me. Went PS3 -> Wii U -> Switch then when Nintendo started charging I stopped playing.

Depends on what PC you get.
