    At least Hinkley hit his target. Still couldn’t seal the deal but at least he gave it a good try. Current ones have been total losers. I sure wish Hinkley had succeeded, then we wouldn’t be in this shit now.

      The problem as it exists started with Nixon and took root after he was ousted. All of it was set up by not punishing sedition after the conclusion of the civil war, they weren’t taught not to fuck around so now they’re fucking around. Jan 6 was basically testing the waters and the overgrown toddlers found out the adults were wholly ineffective, so they’ve taken over the house.

        True, but it very much accelerated under Reagan, in large part due to his personal charisma making it easier for him to convince people to go along with his bullshit.

        In contrast, Bush the Elder had charisma roughly equivalent to that of present day Chuck Schumer so it’s very possible that he wouldn’t have been anywhere near as successful in destroying society.
