I got pretty bad blepharitis once from using expired eyedrops (figured it wouldn’t be a problem to use a couple of drops … figured wrong). Lasted about a week; treatment was antibiotic eyedrops. Anyhow, during that time, it was very uncomfortable to open my eyes, and just a little more comfortable to keep them closed. So I kept them closed for most of a week.

I noticed that without my brain processing so much visual input, things seemed … ‘quieter’ somehow (is the only word I can think of for it) inside my head. Less busy. More … peaceful.

I wear glasses for distance and reading, but, of course, wasn’t during my ‘off week’. But relevant to OP’s question, I think, is the sense of peace that came from less visual stimulation.

I have spent times without my glasses, and found it to be less … busy. But I get eyestrain and a headache within a few hours, due to, I guess, trying to focus, or interpret, what I was seeing. So, yes, sometimes I take my glasses off to give my brain a break.
