I get mini heart attacks from alarms so I would walk up in advanced and check the clock periodically to make sure I could stop the alarm a minute before it goes off

A mini heart attack was the only thing that could get me up in the morning in my teenage years.

I used this song as my alarm clock https://youtu.be/E2WyDq0-5aY

The first 5 seconds gets you and then besides that it is a pretty good song.

Half-an-hour? Might as well just get up and start the coffee. NBD.

One hour? That sucks, because you can try to go back to sleep, but it will probably take 30 minutes because you’re mad that you woke up an hour early, but didn’t want to get up that early but debated staying awake anyway, and then you only get about 15 minutes of good sleep before the alarm wakes you up, and then you feel groggy.

One hour early is much worse than half-an-hour early.

When I was a child, there existed alarm clocks that had a lightened display but with a very faint light…

Nowadays if you look at the time you could as well just get up and start your day.

I turn my phone to minimum default brightness and enable extra dim before bed, that actually works pretty well most times, since usually there’s a little moonlight anyway.

I looked up the manual for my alarm clock because this bugged me so much.

Turns out there is a fucking button combination to change the brightness and it just defaults to maximum for some reason.
