Good that it’s decentralized and people can just move on to another provider, since this one is doing this, haha, right?

Bluesky leadership: slightly worse than JD Vance. It must not have been easy for them to reach that, but what an achievement.

          I more meant why

I guessed you meant that you see people rallying against genAI as foolish so you’re glad to not associate with people like that, but people making snarky comments can reference a whole lot of shit I don’t understand

Giving one person all of the power over what others can see and read hasn’t, historically, worked out.

Bluesky is exactly the same, structurally, as Twitter. A person, or tiny group of people get to decide what everyone else gets to see.

It’s a bad structure for social media, as we’ve seen from Twitter. Making Twitter 2 - Blue edition, doesn’t improve things.

Doesn’t BlackSky show that “one person” power isn’t the same because of the architectural differences? But yeah, the company makes moderation calls that are centralised. Ironically my biggest issue is with the lack of something like community notes or even something more centralised to limit misinformation

I strongly suspect that Vance doesn’t really hate (or love for that matter) anyone. Vance cares about Vance, and will say and do whatever makes life better for Vance in the short term.

And lots of tech-oligarchs that pay to make Vance’s life better are on Bluesky.

And it seems odd to presume he would be since he didn’t return to Twitter presumably so Truth Social is differentiated by having access to his posts as a way to increase usage

doesn’t really make that much sense to look at the registered user total because most of them have already moved on but sure, it’s like 2.5% if you compare to the 5 million that have been active within the last month.

I’d say it’s exponential growth for how many users are super active. Like maybe only 5% of users even know about this new thing. And then 1% even care to use the block feature.

I only use bluesky since some people I used to follow on the birdsite are on there, I don’t know if the mastodon instance I’m on is federated with bluesky or not, I don’t really use it that often anyway. But I logged on just to block attie and drive up those metrics
