minus-squarehomoludens@feddit.orglinkfedilinkarrow-up13·2 days agoI prefer the 90s to the current horrors, but I don’t exactly miss the Yugoslav wars the Rwandan genocide the assassination of Yitzak Rabin bringing an end to the Oslo peace process the rise of the taliban the Chechen wars the Congo wars the ideology of “the end of history” the wave of rightwing violence in Germany (e.g. in Rostock, where thousands of people were celebrating as Nazis attacked and set aflame a house with more than a hundred people in it, most of them migrant workers)

Dear lord I miss everything about the 90’s.
I prefer the 90s to the current horrors, but I don’t exactly miss
If you spent more than $140K on a house then, people looked at you funny.
Every period of time, every decade has had its share of atrocities worldwide.
I did not mean to deny or diminish that fact.
