Y’all realize that the Odyssey is fiction, right? Are you going to be upset if the Charybdis isn’t period accurate? What about the 6headed dragon? Look too much like Tiamat?
This is reddit level media criticism. Mindless contrarianism over focused on trivial details. At least we’re not arguing over the race/gender of the cast.
I don’t care about historical accuracy. For all I care they could be fighting in pink miniskirts if it looks good and makes sense with the setting of the story. I just think this is disappointing because he looks like a mall ninjas idea of a badass.
Every creatively dead Netflix/Prime fantasy franchise has the same shein-ass looking costume design nowadays.
It’s just fucking ugly. It stands out, does not sit right with the rest of the costumes, breaks immersion. Some stuff is just dumb. Like a medieval knight with a visor that only covers half the face.
Fuck period accurate. It just looks like cheap plastic shit! There’s nothing wrong with deliberate deviations as long as they’re well made. This is not one of those cases. This is more in line with Rings of Power or the Nilfgard fish armor. An obvious attempt to save money by using crappy props!

It’s called “immersion” and is kind of slightly important for story telling.

Nolan: we’ll fix it in post
Maury: the budget determined that was a lie
This looks like a spray painted plastic prop for a Power Rangers movie. I want it to look like real armor that won’t crumble in one sword strike.
I was hoping he was going to modernize the story in some cool way. But no, we get standard Greek fantasy.
