after further research, fuck apple. even windows somehow has better interoperability with other systems, with making recovery media, virtualization, and just basic, basic shit.
trying with high sierra now.
edit: sosumi works!
Ever heard of Hackintosh? That’s the length people went to, to run macOS on unofficial hardware. Virtualized hardware unfortunately has the same issue.
Apple has in their TOS that you can only run macos on apple hardware. Even virtual machines.
Apple is the problem here.
Sosumi One click macOS install on Linux
Tysm! This was the answer
Every attempt with qemu has been successful for me
Everytime qemu is mentioned, a wave of groans spawns from anyone who hasn’t opened a
manpageThere’s plenty of guides out there for qemu. For later versions of macos you need to add some virtual hardware that says “Hi I’m a mac” to macos. Just Apple things.
The only success I’ve ever had with virtualizing MacOS on a non Mac host is using VMWare Workstation with some unofficial patch to make it think it was running on a Mac host and enable the option to run a macOS guest. And that took a bit of faff to get working too, no idea if it still works as a method
