Wow, really Lemmy? Fuck bothsidesism. Fuck horseshoe theory leftists. Democrats suck, but one side is way fucking worse and causing way more damage. Would bet my life OP sat out the last election and is the literal reason why we’re here in the first place. God I hate tankies.

Dems constantly let republicans get away with “causing more damage,” yet never seem capable of helping the working class when they get voted back into power. It’s so disingenuous, at least Republicans are honest about their evil intentions. But sure, vote harder next election sweetie, and if you vote hard enough the still not prosecuted Orange Traitor will just cancel the election altogether.

They could have helped us by including the public option in the bill, as it was originally designed to include by republican Mitt Romney. Instead, they simply used it as an opportunity to shovel 25 million Americans right into the pockets of insurance companies. Then-senator Biden dropped the public option before negotiations even began, as a “show of good faith to his esteemed Republican colleagues.” They left the insurance requirement in though, and even tried to add a system where we had to report it with taxes if we wanted refunds.

The part BBB is fucking up is honestly a travesty to begin with. It’s what allows Walmart to operate without insuring their employees, specifically training them to earn under certain amounts and work limited hours so that they can go on Medicare instead of the giant multinational corporation paying their fair share for their employees’ health.

Do you see the pattern here? Fuck these corporations for buying our government and using it against us to rob us blind. Both parties do help them with this, and it has got to stop because we’re at a breaking point.

We will do it ourselves. Fuck governments and institutions. We can literally pull resources together and fix things ourselves, just need a focus point and consensus.

The reason the GOP won is because the DNC ran to the right in a country where the working class is increasingly radicalized. The largest block of society outright doesn’t vote because they don’t see a material difference in the outcome of the election, or because voting in their state doesn’t matter as its solidly red or blue to begin with. Both parties support the bourgeoisie. Even if the DNC won, we would still be in the same mess, because the problems with our system is that it’s a dying capitalist empire.

The only one supporting horseshoe theory is you, as you blame Marxists for the problems caused by both parties in a dying capitalist empire.

The DNC has also been actively socially pushing away one the largest voter demographics, white men.

All the messaging about white guilt, all men are toxic, and should pay reparations for the sins of people who did bad things 200 years ago is insane. Imagine telling a child “you parents did crimes, so you must also to go to jail”.

Who’s gonna vote for a party that seems to hates you? That’s like asking the lgbt community to vote republican, a party activity trying to erase them.

The choice was vote for a party that hates you, or vote for a party that hates your friends.

If they truly wanted to win, they’d have to focus less on skin color and gender (but not ignore) and more on economical inequality. It shouldn’t matter what skin color you have; if you need help, you get help.

No, this is a very bad frame of analysis.

          1. Settler-colonialism is absolutely still a massive issue. It isn’t a thing of the past.

          2. The patriarchial structure of society still oppresses men and women everywhere.

You’re erasing very real issues, strawmanning what people believe, and plugging your ears. This is the “I don’t see color” problem, that’s you ignoring systemic problems, not getting rid of them!

What your tactic would result in is a large portion of women, ethnic minorities, and queer folk being further alienated just to potentially win more white men, but that wouldn’t happen either. Focus on liberation along all lines, economic, social, and more, and allow these coalitions to strengthen our position. You’re furthering division by shutting down the voices of oppressed peoples, strawmanning what they say, just because its uncomfortable for you to hear.
