You can love someone and not be romantically bound up with them. Relationships can be whatever you want them to be as long as both sides can come to an agreement. I love my FWB doesn’t mean I’m trying to tie her down (at least not emotionally). I also love a bunch of my other friends who I’m not having benefits with.

The instance has nothing to do with anything, at least in my case.

To me it’s just an ethical thing. Hookups to me seem like a sad and worthless concept. Might as well masturbate instead. No fun that lasts, no connection that makes it special at all. The sex just loses all its meaning

It has nothing to do with prostitution. There’s no money involved, and nobody gains anything material.

I believe the idea is to just hook up, but with people you know and like, instead of strangers. Safer, probably cheaper, and maybe even beneficial outside of the obvious.

Prostitution has nothing to do with an exchange of goods, does it?

Imo recreational sex in general is prostitution.

Prostitution is the practice or act of engaging in sexual activity in exchange for money, food, rent, or other items of value. It is also widely referred to as commercial sex or sex work.

Nothing in this lines up with a FWB relationship or recreational sex. Wtf other kind is there, do you fuck purely for reproductive purposes?

I’ve had a lot of fwb and this is pretty much exactly why. Trust, safety, added benefit of learning a person sexually so both parties are fully satisfied.

People dont know how to love each other anymore, you say you love someone, and they assume you want to be locked alone in a room with them for the rest of your lives

This! I can love my hookup for a couple of hours and then love “the witcher 3 free remaster” the next day. I hate that “I love you” carry so many additional meanings.

literally my thought. Also helps if you’re already in the habit of telling your friends you love them, which I HIGHLY recommend. It is extremely fulfilling.

I had a friend who had friends. They were my friends, until I lost that friend, and went back to zero again

Yep, that’s the serious problem you get if you’re letting someone else do the work of maintaining friendships. You gotta reach out to people yourself.

How to meet those ppl in the first place? No idea, I got like 5 ppl I still know from college and I’m holding on to em for dear life.
