Then they’ll block your road, get out of their fancy car and assault you for hitting that precious car.
I was on a bike path when a car driver cut me while exiting a driveway and I bumped my wheel into his back bumper. Well, he stopped, got out of his car, whined that I didn’t do “my” stop and ended up slapping me twice in the face… because he cut me and I bumped into his car…
So even if you have an old car AND it’s not your fault, they’l still be mad at you for existing and being in their way.
Don’t you know? He’s the main character. NPCs are supposed to move out of his way.
Sounds like a lot of bikers I see blowing through red lights and stop signs. Obey the rules of the road or get on the sidewalk like a normal pedestrian.
Well actually, its usually much safer for a cyclists to keep moving at an intersection like that. It takes far less time for them to clear the intersection than coming to a full dead stop and starting again. I can see and hear everything on approach much better than anyone inside a 2 ton metal box. In some places its perfectly legal for a bicycle to treat stop sighs like a give way.
Getting on the sidewalk often has its own hazards, like the sidewalk randomly ending and starting again for no reason, people, and shop doors.
It is not safer to blow through a 4 way stop with a blind corner at 20 mph. I nearly hit a cyclist because of them doing that.
Getting on the sidewalk often has its own hazards,
You know what has hazards? Riding in the road unprotected from 2 ton heavy machinery. You couldn’t pay me to ride in the street when there are sidewalks available.
It’s pure selfishness to demand others be responsible for your safety.
I’m the one making the comment and you’re the one assuming I did something wrong because I was on a bicycle? Or is this “a lot” exaggerated and biaised?
Anyway the said rules where I live is that riding on sidewalks is illegal. Cyclists are not pedestrians and should not be mixed with them.
I was legally on a cycle path, had priority, there was no light. I was cut then slapped by the driver making an illegal move, and you’re first thought is to point out that “lots of bikers blow red lights”?! What?
Cyclists are not pedestrians
Wrong. Going by weight, speed, visibility, protection and turning radius cyclists are much closer to pedestrians than 2 ton vehicles going 35 mph. That’s basic physics.
And it’s not illegal to ride on the sidewalks where I live. Not that legality has any bearing on what is logical. Laws are made up for those who whine the most or have the most money, not what is logical.
Some drunken redneck rear ended me once then got out and sucker punched me in the head. It wasn’t two seconds later my knee was on his throat. Some people just need some sense beaten into them.
It’s very freeing. Not having to care about door dings in a tight parking lot is nice.
Problem is with your 14 year old Hyundai, you probably don’t have full coverage, so your insurance is going to pay to fix his BMW, you are going to pay to replace your Hyundai, and your insurance rates are going up.
Why would anybody in their right mind not have full coverage with a shitbox car? It’s kinda the whole point.
Facts right there
Especially with the recent ice storm
People in brand new $90k+ vehicles tailgating my 17 year old Kia like it’ll make me go faster
I’d gladly save some gas by letting them push me
What I like about my car is that it wears its history proudly.
And that scares the shit out of anyone around me because it looks like I intentionally smash into people.
It’s just how I got it, but I certainly enjoy using that to my advantage.
What they don’t tell you is it’s completely allowed to not care about your slightly nice car also.
I like to have a stress free experience on the road. So I do my best to be accommodating while also being predictable (don’t break traffic rules to be nice you’re gonna get someone killed).
Thing about it is, when you drive the shitbox you think you’re at an advantage, but the shitbox is an outlier. Try buying a car you trust as much with your liability ins…damn.
Meanwhile if you have a car that’s still kinda worth something (or you save money, btw you’re an outlier and good for you, I’m bad at it) and you have insurance, it’s just a pain in the ass not a crisis.
I’ve noticed significantly less tailgating ever since my rear bumper and trunk were damaged from a dumb bitch that rear ended me last month.
I’d leave it as is… but, it’s pretty ugly. I want my baby back in shape.
Not all Hyundais (or older cars) are the same. I get the spirit, but while my 17 year old Santa Fe has a lot of miles on it, I’d rather the assholes just stay away so I don’t have to go through the experience of a wreck, insurance, and possible new car payments on a newer vehicle that I have to relearn all the quirks. So I let the idiots fight each other and watch from afar as much as possible, which includes being a “beta” driver. But that’s what they taught us, right? Defensive driving?
When I didn’t have health insurance and needed a cane to walk I would play this game with shitheads that drove up into the crosswalk. Do it, mfer, my spine is more expensive than your car.
- Blinker
- Mustn’t
- Work
This is literally the first time I have ever seen someone say “mustn’t” on the internet
Did you think it wasn’t a real word and google it?
I live in the hope you did.
Not today Lemmy grammar Nazis…not today.
