Was shopping for glue, 2 weeks ago. So, firmly September. Already isles of xmas tat. FFS. Let us just have one commercial, face stuffing, and totes unconnected to ANY actual holiday rubbed into our noses at a time. I’m tired of being treated like a bad puppy for not over consuming. I really enjoy holy days. I’m not even just celebrating my own holy days. I just really enjoy celebrations and how they bring ppl together. But having it SHOVED in my ears, eyes, and pocketbook is obscene. The AI neutered slop playing in stores is so objectionable I only go when forced to. Also, a reminder that if you find something on Cramazon, it’s most likely on a legit stores site for a better price. Spend less, encourage legit vending!

I like to listen to Christmas music in season. I don’t start until after Thanksgiving is over, and I end on midnight of Christmas day.

I listen pretty much all day everywhere. At home, at work, in the car.

    People have complained.

I explain that I spend all year wanting to murder everyone around me, and listening to Christmas music reminds me of a time when I didn’t believe everyone deserved to be murdered. It’s an annual mood reset that takes me back to a child-like baseline of kumbaya bullshit where everyone can be kind and love each other.

It doesn’t always work. There have been years when the ignorance and cruelty interfere with the reset and I stop the music and embrace the hate.

    Those are not good years.

Listening to a month of Christmas music seems a small price to pay.

Christmas music listening does not start until the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. That’s always my first Christmas gig. It ends the 26th.

I’ve had years where we spent August-November preparing 50ish Christmas gigs. As long as it stays in rehearsal (and at-home practice) i can stand it. If it breaks containment, may crab god have mercy on whoever did it.

I still can’t listen to Jingle Bell Rock because this one dingleberry decided to prank me with it for a year.

I’m a school bus driver and a couple of years ago the director of transportation banned Christmas decorations on the buses. This of course caused an enormous shitstorm, and the director defended herself by saying that some parents had complained about Christianity being pushed on their kids by the buses. This sounded like an utterly ludicrous claim, but it turned out that the culprit was me, because I had tried to get the kids on my bus to sing “Little Drummer Boy”. Ironically, I’m an atheist but I just like that fucking song.

Actually. Yeah that’s pretty dope. That Rock Opera album, I don’t know if it has capital-C Christmas music but it really has the sound.

They would never play that in a department store
