Saw a cool trick on IG, bit wasteful but works if you really want to save the container (I agree we should switch away from plastics - someday…). Piece of paper towel or napkin, drop of dish soap, a splash of hot water, close tight and shake thoroughly so the paper goes all around the inside, remove paper, rinse, wash normally.
