Yeah… the only difference that I see here is the price, compare to something like a platinum preppy… with that you only get the installed cart with the pen.
Adjusting for inflation, that $1 is closer to $11. A preppy and half a ten pack of platinum black carts would be around $13.50 at US pen retailers, so not too bad overall.
That said, these are a small quantity novelty import. JDM you can get the preppy and a full ten pack for 900 JPY, or about $6.
I will agree that they are better for the planet, but I wouldn’t say that they are expensive, but they are more expensive than a ball point in most cases, becuase they are refillable. Platnium Preppy is a good example and can be had for usually less than $5. For nicer models that wont break you look at jinhao or hongdian with some of them being between $10-$30. The black forrest is particularly nice.
