I honestly wonder how much AI Nintendo used for the Ocarina remake. It’s the most AI-looking game I’ve seen yet, and Nintendo has a record for cheaping out whenever they see a clear benefit and think they’ll get away with it.

Yeah it’s very off-putting. When i watched the trailer i just went “what the heck happened to little zelda’s face?” I never seen her nose that pronounced.

This is the og for comparison

One of my biggest issues is that every face seems to have had a different “style,” a different design aesthetic.

There are several races in Hyrule, sure, whatever. But Zelda is wildly different than Link who is wildly different than Ganon or Impa, and they all look different than the townsfolk.

They wanted to make things “realistic” with this doll aesthetic thing, but as you try to be more realistic when all the faces look different that stands out.

I had the same thought when I saw the remake trailer. It just looks so uncanny and odd looking…

I’m not trying to jump in to defend anything (I don’t know the dev process) but I will say that uncanny and odd looking is like… the default. Almost every game since OoT has had me asking “Why did they do that?” in terms of art direction.
