    Notably Spanish colonialism took native populations and made them citizens whereas most colonial occupations relied on non citizenship to essentially enslave the natives. They still created a caste system but legally they were subjects of the crown just like any other Spanish born person.

      Yep, still settler-colonial, but in a manner that preserves much of indigenous culture and ties to the land. The US and Canada are much closer to Israel in how settlers colonialism is handled, past and present.
