God approves and disapproves of slavery in both the new testament and old testament.
Also in matthew 5:17-20 Jesus very clearly states that the old testament is to be followed. So even if the new testament did not include what seems to be approval of slavery, it would still not matter. But the bible also disapproves of slavery.
