Considering the conversation is about the USSR and not Russia (in its modern form) then everyone on this site likely has the same personal anecdotal experience of roughly 0 and is instead working off data and stories they’ve been told. (Apologies if any senior citizens happen to be lurking Lemmy I just don’t think it’s likely).
Under the soviet union, the large majority of those who benefited were the working classes, while those who lost out were the formerly owning classes. You don’t directly reference them by their classes, you indirectly do by describing those who won and those who lost accordingly.
In my experience with “smart” people from former Eastern Bloc countries now living in the West, what they “suffered” from was the idea that they didn’t get to live a life of significantly higher material comforts than “normal” workers in their country, similar to how things were in the West.
But isn’t it funny how nowadays working normals in USA struggling with same, didn’t you noticed that ? Or they are living dream life on edge of bankruptcy. Dave Ramsey speaks OnLive with many regular working class Americans about this "suffering " and proposing ussr lifestyle 🤣🤣
