Resist giving employers ANY details. Your doctor certainly won’t give them any, you don’t have to either. I send a text or email “I’m unwell and won’t be in today” and my doctor’s notes all say “Diagnosis: medical condition.”
Could be a throat infection ( it currently is, it’s 3am and I am sick as a dawg), could be a cold, could be a broken wrist, could be depression. They aren’t entitled to know.
When I was a manager all absences were counted the same, unless you had some kind of FMLA deal which didn’t go through me. They were counted by the timeclock system and there was nothing I could do about it. There was literally 0 reason to tell my why you were out. All I needed to know is that you weren’t going to be in that day. People still insisted on giving me sob stories all the time.
Oh yeah, some people seem compelled to give gory details. Hey lady, I absolutely don’t need to know about your colonoscopy, all thebest tho. Gastric ulcers? That’s a bummer fella, now can I get my client outreach update?
