It’s likely that Homer didn’t author the Odyssey, but rather wrote down the oral tradition that already existed.
It’s likely Marge did the actual writing and let Homer take the credit.
It’s also uncertain whether Homer was even a real person himself.
Would the name Homer not just refer to the person/people who wrote these stories down or is there more to it than that?
possibly-- Homer may have been an actual person, or the name may just refer to an amalgamation of people who compiled many myths and legends, passed down for generations through oral tradition, to paper, once and for all.
