At least 2.2 million cars on the road today are vulnerable to an attack that allows thieves to lock and unlock doors and immobilize vehicle engines remotely via a Bluetooth connection, computer scientists at the University of California San Diego have found.

    I’m a locksmith and the only lock with buttons I trust is a simplex. And that’s because it is entirely mechanical.

        I haven’t had much experience with them, but they use the same tech as an old abloy lock that my mom has had on her front door for 40 years, in salty and humid South Florida. So that speaks to it’s longevity.
