I’m a beginner photography enthusiast who loves playing with zoom

I’ve been looking for a camera to start with and I found the Nikon P1100. 125x zoom, and about as far as it goes with a camera with built in zoom lens.

So with that in mind, is this a good camera? What else should I keep in mind? I know it’s a little heavy because it’s bulky and that’s fine. I’ll probably go for a number of accessories like a tripod, extra batteries and storage and whatnot, anything I might need to start with that you normally don’t directly think of?
