        Depends totally on the instance. I don’t find my admins to be that way, but we’re also on a pretty similar ideological wavelength so I don’t know how it would be if that wasn’t the case.

      Lemmy’s aren’t much better. Despite being pretty far left, I’m banned from the progressive politics sub for completely fabricated reasons. And for context, I often get into arguments with .ml & hexbear users, and aside from some random communities I’ve never interacted with, they haven’t banned me from much.

      The role just attracted the wrong type of person.

        Yeah but that’s mods. The nature of community moderation means there will always be abuse, but there’s always more communities to join. But here you do get to choose your admins in a similar manner. Thankfully I chose well despite picking somewhat haphazardly.

        I’m splitting hairs, but there’s no such thing as a lemmy admin. There are instance admins that can only moderate their own instances.
