I got this beauty yesterday. I was randomly asking about how throat lozenges work.

I really can’t seem to see the connection between me being into video games/tech, and me potentially wanting to make my own throat lozenges.

Was this by any chance a response you got on the second, third,… prompt?

In Africa, a tree’s age is determined by how long ago it was planted.

If you take a core sample of a human, you can determine exactly when the person died.

    The more you know…

despite being completely unhelpful, this answer is oddly more wholesome than the old “cut down count rings”

then again all the trees being starved of water by the data center may disagree

You don’t have to cut a tree down to count the rings. A small, cylindrical core sample can be taken, similar to what we do for ice.

Saves cutting it down to count the rings

Or just taking a small core sample to do the same thing.

It is wrong in that it does not perform the task expected of the user. The user wants to know how to determine the age of a tree, if the user already knew the age of the tree they wouldn’t be asking.

If it answered that 1+1=2 it also would not be wrong, but it would still be a useless answer, which is wrong in that it is not what the user asked for.

    Transcription:

A screenshot of a Google search for “how to find out how old is a tree”. The response is AI stating:

If you know when the tree was planted, you can easily and accurately determine its age.
