    Ma’am, this is not Reddit where you complain about Facebook. This is Lemmy where you complain about Reddit.

    My mother keeps spending 11 hours a day in Facebook and then sending me random shit from it.

    Everyone always tries to pinpoint when Facebook got terrible. I was there for it. I remember it. While it happened over time the instant it was uncool and lame was when the first parent signed up.

    The moment it was over for me was when my mother sent me a friend request.

      It started even earlier than Facebook was publicly released as a product - looking into its history, it started literally before the very first line of code was ever written. (I’m not being hyperbolic, it literally started with a scam, then continued with several additional scams, and so on - I mean, I was not there, but reportedly so.)

    What’s a Facebook?

    (Yes, /s. I’ve never even been to the website, let alone had an account).

      On PieFed there are hashtags and keyword filtering. On Lemmy… I guess there is only the block button (for the user account or entire community).

        That’s fair, I personally find spider pictures are generally not as viscerally upsetting as seeing a needle about to enter an arm would be to some, my sister included. Now something from the game Limbo or a spider that is in the act of doing something frightening I could see, I guess my issue is with the implied action and how I’ve seen people react to that

        Edit: I guess -> I personally find

          This is about as much drug use as these soldering pictures where they hold the iron at the hot tip.
