Seriously? The product is caramel coated popcorn, you’d think they might give it a more appropriate name, such as…
Caramel Jills
Edit: For people that aren’t aware, this is their rebranding of Cracker Jacks, to try to be inclusive or some shit. I think they did a terrible rebranding of this, for reasons already stated. :(

Popcorn is not a cracker in the first place, but the snack is indeed covered in caramel.
Is it that hard to connect the dots? Hell, Caramel Jills even sounds nicer and prettier, at least to me.
Cracker reffers to the “cracking” sound that the popcorn makes. Not the race of the character on the bag. This is jack, hear how his treats crack. These are cracker jacks, they crack, jack.
That’s a you invention. The racial bit
Maybe it’s a misunderstanding? It’s a homograph. Something spelt the same, with a different meaning. Cracker jack never meant “jack is, racially, white”. That would be racist.
Changing it to caramel specifically because they’re black is racist. It does sound better, I’ll admit that though. If they made the change to caramel jills for non racial reasons I’d support it
I went down a bit of a rabbit hole on this, and yes indeed the snack has serious historical cultural references.
