Hi all. This is probably silly, but how in the world do you change this circled image? Right-clicking on the whole thing then clicking “manage” can only set the one already there, not this empty one.

EDIT: I have failed to mention that this game isn’t a steam game, it is a “non-steam game” that I added to steam.

EDIT2: Just found out that hovering over the game and keeping the cursor on it makes it go through a series of pictures, which leads me to believe that that is an “album” of several pictures for each game that gets downloaded with each game.

    That looks like the horizontal grid. All the custom images are in a folder in Steam (see below for the location). You should be able to copy an image into that folder, and as long as it’s using the correct name format, Steam should use that image just fine. You’ll need to know the game’s ID, but you should be able to figure that out by cross-referencing other custom images

    • Image folder location: (steam directory)/userdata/(user id)/config/grid/

    • horizontal grid format: (game id).(file format) (ex: 2284631436.png)

    • vertical grid format: (game id)p.(file format) (ex: 2284631436p.png)

    • hero (aka wallpaper) format: (game id)_hero.(file format) (ex: 2284631436_hero.png)

    • logo format: (game id)_logo.(file format) (ex: 2284631436_logo.png)

    • how to find game id: there’s no easy way to find it, but you can set a custom image for the game with any of the other options, then look into the folder to see what the custom image is called. You then should be able to figure out what the game id is by comparing it to the name format

      So, this is a non-steam game that I have added to it. So, all the paths you have mentioned are not there in this case. They even have different file structure. I was hoping that steam has a folder somewhere for these games where I can go in and add images

          Hmmm, I’ll need to dig into those folders one by one then to find out which one is the non-steam games folders. Also, I’ve found a folder called “grid” buried somewhere in the steam folder, but that one only has the images I’ve already set

            There shouldn’t be a need to look through multiple folders. Check the path that I listed, it should be that one.

            From what you describe, it sounds like you’ve already found it once on your own. That folder contains all the custom images (the default images are presumably stored somewhere else). Just put your custom image into that grid folder and name it the correct thing. It’ll work.

    The simplest way is to launch the game, then go back to your steam library home. You should now have the gray image there. Then you can just rightclick and there will be an option to select custom art.

      That sets the image that I attached to the post. Also, this is a non-steam app, so the whole file structure is different, right?

    I know that I’ve done it. I think it was Boop. Honestly Steam frankly sucks for this and I’ve given up trying to making it look good. Tried GoG Galaxy’s outside launcher integration, gave up on that too, and I’ve been really pleased with Playnite for many years.
