I usually round up prices like 4,99 to 5 in my head, but I met many people IRL who would only remember the base of the price with no cents if it wasn’t rounded up for them.
They would remember 4,99 as 4, and then be confused why they only got 1 cent of change. I guess this is the kind of people who is the target audience of this practice. It seems cheaper to them than it really is because they are cent blind 😆
