Here in Sweden, Turkey (Turkiet) doesn’t sound like the bird (kalkon). It makes more sense to show the localized name and their internal name next to each other, and this is already common in many maps.
Names evolve over time for a variety of reasons. The examples you provide aren’t also used as an insult the way turkey (the bird) is.
