It is not – otherwise most videos would be like this (yes, that fr*nch website updates to show random low-view videos)

We need a peertube version of that 😂 There’d be so much more random stuff on there.

May have been the same one every time. The backend takes a while to find another video. Refresh in 30 seconds.

‘random’ doesn’t exist with companies. It’s always whoever paid more is what gets referred. Reddit clearly proved this. Click random, yet get NFL…right, try again…oh it’s EA?..sure is random. What are the odds I keep getting referred to things that have huge money behind them…

Sync for Reddit and for Lemmy has a random button, and I think it works fine 🙃

Anyway, perhaps going random in all the wide variety of what YT offers doesn’t look nice… But what about filtering only your subscriptions???

I mean, I always go random with the liked songs on Spotify…

Sync is probably ok, but it depends on what’s pushing the random. For Reddit, I assume it was just sending a signal to the Reddit random which well…is not random.

Cool because they seemingly just ruined their auto play.

Recently if I auto play more than 2 consecutive videos suddenly it thinks I want to watch 3 hour unedited VODs by a channel I’ve never watched before and nexting the video in the first 5 seconds is a clear indicator that I want another of the same by the same channel.

I follow Adam savage’s channel and I’m ok with him, but I’m frustrated because every time I put a video YouTube autoplay ends up playing Adam savage, a lot of the times just as the next video after the one I manually put, even when it was nowhere near close to the same kind of conte I decided to watch. It’s extremely annoying

Yeah I watch twitch highlights so autoplay thinks I want to watch someone with 12 subscribers play Overwatch for 5 hours. The amount of unedited VODs being push is too damn high.

Dear God. I gag whenever I see the monstrosity that is the YouTube homepage without my logged in recommendations. I’d hate to see what’s served completely randomly. I thought daytime television was a vapid wasteland, but it’s nothing compared to unadulterated YouTube.

Maybe vapid is the wrong word, but y’all know what I’m getting at.
