Yeah, it was compulsory in France at school, everyone had one, plus an “ink eraser” pen. And we all wrote in cursive, I don’t know how to write in another manner.
They no longer teach cursive in America. My son graduated in 2017, and he didn’t learn cursive.
Now I’m starting to see Insta posts of young people trying to read an easy phrase in cursive, and they can’t do it. Frankly, from what I’ve seen, part of the problem is cursive, but at least part of the problem is that many of these young people just can’t read at all, which is an entirely different problem.
