What a sheltered westerner thing to say about the soviet occupation and mass deportations.

Tell me your people have never lived under genocidal soviet rule without telling me.

Tell me, do you also cheer for Israel? Or why are genociders only okay when it’s your side?

Tell me, do you also cheer for Israel?

Since it should be obvious from my comment but you’re not good at comprehensive reading: no I don’t like fascists.
Bless the Soviets for getting rid of a lot of them.
          I feast on your tears.

So you’re OK with Russian fascists but not Jewish ones. That’s kinda racist but OK.

In case you missed WW2 history, the Soviets fought and beat the fascists.
Or you wouldn’t be crying about it so hard.

The soviets, sure. They sent people to the meat grinder. Especially people from the soviet “republics” that weren’t Russia. Yes, our people also fought the nazis as part of the soviet empire, but our reward for it was half a century of occupation by the red fascists.

There were also plenty of non soviets fighting against the nazis, but you make it sound quite a bit simpler than it really was, when the truth is that two empires clashed and the one that won was barely better than the one that lost.

Or is your mind so simplistic that you think beating “the bad guys” makes the other side “the good guys”? If that was the case, we’d be considering Americans the good guys because of WWII too.

I am sorry but the US not exactly against the Nazis. They appointed a bunch of Nazi war criminals in positions in NATO.

Most supporters of soviet imperialism are angsty teens from countries that were always safe from it. Few people from eastern Europe are fans of the soviet empire for some reason.

The people who think “victims of communism” means nazis. It usually means people who were deported for not supporting the party after being conquered, so equating the term with nazis (who lost to capitalists as much as communists), is meant to ridicule the victims of soviet imperialism.

The post is quite literally about a victims of communism memorial that had to be taken down because it was mostly Nazis. Do you read posts before you comment?

                ?

That memorial was a Canadian one, they never had to deal with communism there. Read the comment I replied to. It’s comparing the people of the Baltics to those nazis. People who actually suffered under soviet rule.

Doesn’t really change the fact that you are commenting on a post where it is explicitly about a “victims of communism” memorial and it turns out the best they could do was a bunch of Nazis which sort of flies in the face of your whitewashing attempt in your comment don’t you think?

Also victims of communism is a ridiculous framing but that’s more of a tangent.

Yes, it should be victims of soviet imperialism but it’s really a distinction without a difference in eastern Europe.

And you’re somehow still not getting that the original comment was equating those nazis with people being deported from their homes for having the wrong political opinions. No wonder mls are all considered tankies. Y’all love genocidal dictatorships. Bye.

Nooo, facing those questions would be forcing myself to try to start understanding the contradictions of what I’ve been taught my whole life, that my privilege comes directly from exploitation of the global south, and that pretty much every aspect of my existence has been commodified from where I drive and walk to regularly, when I have sex, what kind of books I read and movies/tv/Youtube videos I watch to what I wear, eat, drink, say, feel, think, love, hate, and everything inbetween…

How could being a westerner really be that bad? My life is great! 😁

Estonians had, contrary to popular belief, built hospitals, schools, roads and railroads without being forced to do so by the Russians. Weird, I know. Slightly racist of you go think only Russians could achieve something like that.

Incredibly racist of you to reduce the Soviet Union to “Russians”. Incredibly stupid of you to read “they built a bunch of infrastructure” to mean “there was absolutely nothing there before.”
Honestly that’s so stupid I have to assume you’re just someone acting obtuse, so I won’t waste more time in you.

It was the Kreml that decided we need to be annexed and the Kreml that called the shots in the union.

The others were never in control. Yes, I know Stalin was from Georgia. It’s irrelevant, Hitler was also not German yet it was the Germans conquering half of Europe, not “Germany, Austria and others”.

So, infrastructure was already being built and you acknowledge it. And yet somehow infrastructure built under orders from the imperialists is something generous rather than just… Continuity on what was going to happen regardless?
