    So okay, instead of doing it at home at 80% something efficiency, I then do it on specifically designed data-center that uses even less power to achieve my task. Why is this worse?

    We already know the water argument mostly fails.

      Because now you are counted as a user gives prompt them (companies) more to make new data centers which are a totally disaster for the enviroment, whoever has to live near 'em and whoever was forced to move away from them— oh and they sometimes even ignore that nearby water sources are used for the city water and pollute it

        The big spenders and consumers of AI aren’t people occasionally generating some meme. It’s not even close.

          Then it shouldn’t matter that we’re telling the occasional memer to not use AI and that a human made meme is better.

            It kind of does. This is a joke community, memes. Lighten up and stop hating joke AI creations, it’s essentially toxicism at this point because them spending an hour to create something versus half a minute generating it is a statistical noise in resource consumption. It’s a nothing burger, at least the resources are not used to generate child p
