2·24 days agoIn a de facto two party system it certainly can feel like a spoiler vote, however a single issue party can be highly influential in getting larger parties to adopt better positions on those single issues in order to avoid having votes syphoned away. In a truely multiparty system, a single issue party can directly extract concessions if they end up as part of a coalition government or are in a king-maker situation following an election.

Seems they were never really on anyone’s side to begin with.
Intelligent people don’t join such professions and even if they tried these institutions intentionally filter them out.
That’s not it either.
It might not be just that, but it is literally that too.
I mean, the Libs are doing everything I’d expect from Stephen Harper’s Bank of Canada guy and the Tory’s Bank of England guy.
Not being able to tell if the Libs or Cons are in charge just feels like more evidence of how far we’ve ratcheted to the right.
Don’t forget Finland in 2023 and Sweden in 2024.
