The only play store (google) apps i have on my phone are the play store itself, a banking app, an investment app, and FL Mobile. All nicely sandboxed in their own user profile on grapheneOS.
My main profile has 99 FOSS or not installed via play store apps.

Unless you’re using 5g NR SA which is the actual 5g - New Radio Stand Alone, which is supposed to be able to function, as the name implies, alone, without any fallback to insecure networks.
If you’re using 5g NR NSA it still requires 4g to function.
I am in airplane mode 99.9% of the time, using wifi calling (sms/rcs also work over wifi), so my phone isn’t susceptible to imsi catchers and such or location pinging.

It is a mouse/touchpad, keyboard, media controller in one single app, file transfer, notification sync all in one.
Simple setup.
Download on devices. Pair. Done.
Phones…uh, can be used as keyboards.
And remotes. And as a touchpad.
I use kde connect on my phone for my 3 10+ year old linux pcs that others would have thrown away. And to control 7 devices in total. Imagine trying to do that with a remote.
It’s literally as simple as install app on phone and devices and pair.
Done.
You can get a good enough pc on amazon or walmart or a local garage sale for like 100$

Or with kde connect using your phone.
