Or we could ya know…connect with people. Promote more social interaction spaces and opportunities so people are less siloed and isolated in their own city/town/neighborhoods/houses.

People say “Oh AI, Oh Incels, Oh women are afraid” yes, but people get better at interacting socially by spending more time interacting socially. A “yes man” chat instance doesn’t help anyone learn or grow. And it goes for sex too, you’re not gonna get better if every “person” you’ve been with says you were the best ever and they came 30 times.

AI companies have a vested interest in keeping people alone because it lets them keep using their product. Rebuilding community and connection is the thing that helps people grow.

  • At least he put up for americas interests instead of lining his own pockets and creating division. And also, who cares? I don’t care if a president fucks like there’s no tomorrow as long as he’s a good president.

This whole “Yeah but JFK” argument sounds an awful lot like “whataboutism” here. JFK is long gone, and even so, people still lauded him as a good president, people dislike Trump more day by day, and he’s a swindling self serving asshole. A couple photos aren’t going to change that opinion for either of them.

  • Not devaluing this perspective, but I think this could also be applied to a lot of different experiences. Anyone who has tried to change themselves in one way or another can relate to this. Obviously transitioning is one, but it’s a very human reaction to feel that way.

It can be as minor as “I want to be an artist but I don’t want to share because people will critique” or as intense as transitioning.

People may not have gone through the exact scenario, but its a very human experience to say “I want to but I’m not “good enough” yet, so I’m going to hide it”

  • My only exception to the “pre-discount” price is when places have a “buy 1 get 1” deal and they try to make you tip based on that, but the single item price is way overpriced because of it. Happens around me a lot where they’re like 3pack tacos, buy 1 get 1 $21, like yeah that’s great price for 6 small tacos, but I wouldn’t be paying $21 for 3 tacos, so I’m not gonna tip whatever crazy amount for a bill that “would have been” $75 or something for some tacos and a drink. Granted these are usually carry out orders, but don’t try to artificially inflate my bill to get better tips because you discounted it to a lower price.

Edit before people give me flak: I still tip fairly, but if a place tries to give me some “your bill was 100$, but we discounted it to 20$ that’ll be a 20$ tip though” they can fuck off. I’ll tip right, but don’t try to guilt trip me with a discount when you know I wouldn’t be here at all of it wasn’t for the discount.

  • I think the better question is what about games deserves to be in a general history museum? The advent and changes of technology and the implementation is far more important than the examples of it in use. There are very few games on their own that would qualify as “culturally impactful” to the greater world by their sheer existence. (Mario, Pokemon, and Tetris immediately come to mind).

If we are talking about a “video game museum/exhibit” then the list broadens a lot, but it’s less about the “what” and more the “why” that needs focused.

  • Oh for sure, the sites are getting in trouble. But that’s because advertisers don’t want to be associated with those things.

But the payment processors, that’s literally how they make money. Can’t make money off the top if there are no transactions. Banks will still let you deposit your money if you get it from a drug deal, bit of a don’t ask don’t tell there, but it’s the government that has problems with how you got it. (hyperbole but you get my point)

I still think separating from credit card co.'s is a good idea regardless. But its pretty rare for them to turn down transactions unless they have to.

Hell Cashapp is jokingly called the “drug dealer financing app” but you don’t see them getting shut down any time soon.

  • Wait but if building a tent around it doesn’t kill them, which I agree with, it means that they would be allowed in if the domicile was formed around them without their knowing.

So by that logic, do Vampires get squatters rights?

If they get into a domicile not knowing there is an owner, then the owner arrives, are they ejected or are they allowed to stay? What if you build your house on top of the entrance to their tomb? Are they forced to ask permission to leave their tomb and thus enter your domicile?
