I never mind when people crosspost things that I post. It’s just a way of dispersing content to relevant communities.
Also, the cross-posting feature usually automatically provides a link to the original, so I don’t know if there’s a need for an etiquette around it.
That sounds like some Lovecraftian story: briefly glimpsing knowledge beyond human limits, then losing it forever.

I laughed and then was surprised by the comments. Damn, tough crowd. I didn’t think OJ jokes would still be so touchy in 2026.
I think Lemmy has contracted the beans virus a few times.
I’m real! I’ve been posting daily here for quite a while now. Just my way of trying to support federated social media.
God damn it

Yeah, being able to google stuff that’s not working has been a lifesaver for me. Or (and I know it’s not popular here) taking a snippet of some confusing output and giving it to an AI to have it explain what things mean.

I just picked a random image of packages being updated.
Or if you mean the Star Trek image, it’s from an episode where Uhura and Spock are trying to fix one of the consoles on the bridge. ‘Who Mourns for Adonais’ season 2, episode 2.

The boot sequence is what I was picturing originally, but I didn’t know how to word that cleanly for the meme, lol.

I’m trying! There’s a lot.
I missed a very important 96% shot in XCOM last night. I’m still thinking about it.
Unintentional, but that’s funny. I think I played a Lemmings demo sometime back in the 90s, but not enough to remember any specifics.

I’ve actually never seen it before, it was just one of the top examples when I searched.
Looking it up now, you’re not going to believe this, but it’s because of Harvey Weinstein personally holding the film rights hostage. Somehow after a license expired, the film rights reverted to him, and he offered to sell it back to Kevin Smith at some unreasonable price that Smith didn’t want to pay. It sounds pretty ethical to torrent at this point.

…but I actually like GNOME!
There are quite a few customization options for it too.

It really is. Every time I think “Hey, it would be cool if my desktop could have [blank]”, I look it up and someone has already had that idea and built it.
That’s the one!
I can’t remember the name of it, but there’s one type of inexpensive small truck that I see people wishing for in the US constantly. Very utilitarian and barebones function over form. That would be a good fit.

It makes me think there must be something more to the story. Bad blood? FromSoft not wanting to make it an exclusive?
Otherwise, I just don’t get it either. I’m not a businessman, but that seems as close to risk-free money as you can get.
