Reading through various translations, the first part seems to say "don’t cut/gash your body in honor/memory/mourning of the dead, but most of the translations leave it somewhat ambiguous (at least to me) as to whether it means “don’t tattoo yourself in honor/memory/mourning of the dead” or just, “don’t tattoo yourself at all”. Also, it sounds as though cutting/gashing yourself for other reasons is isn’t breaking any rules.

1. I do often wear them with nothing playing, but even that impacts my situational awareness, which is even more impacted if I put music on.
2. I don’t want to be listening to music, a podcast, etc., right now, I just want to hear the low, white noise of the environment. This is especially applicable when out in nature.

Garmin. You’ll probably spend a bit more on the hardware, but there’s nothing locked behind a subscription. I had the Fitbit Sense and switched to the Garmin Forerunner 265. If the skin temperature sensor is important to you, you’ll want a different model, but that’s the only thing I’ve noticed as missing so far.

Niche interests and/or local stuff. My city has basically no activity over here, so I still browse the local subreddit regularly.

I went crabbing and the resources I found said that killing them before cooking them was likely more humane than boiling them alive, so that’s what I did.

My old neighbor’s cat once left a paralyzed/twitching rat outside my door, which I found in the morning. I quickly realized that the rat was not going to recover (it had already been there for hours), so I had to figure out a way to quickly end its suffering. I did not eat the rat though.

Yep. The dry cycle also takes about twice as long, but supposedly it’s more gentle on fabrics. It’s a pretty nifty option for small spaces without a way to properly vent the dryer, but I can see why they’re not more popular. The machine came with the place, so I didn’t exactly choose it, but I hang dry most stuff anyway, and definitely prefer it over dealing with shared, coin operated machines.

Ooops. Millennial here and I often iron my bed sheets. I have a weird ventless washer/dryer combo thing, and no matter how quickly I pull my sheets out or what dryness level I set it to, they come out quite wrinkled. I don’t really mind if the main sheet is a bit wrinkly, but it drives me nuts when the top edge gets all folded, and then those folds become permanent creases.

Some of the Lemmy apps have keyword filters. I’m using Thunder, but I know some others have it too. No clue if there’s anything for desktop though.

Does it have any mechanisms to detect someone who might just install the app on an old phone that just lives in the glove box? Seems like a real easy way to get around the “don’t use your phone” aspect.

A brand new account doesn’t necessarily mean the user hasn’t been lurking for a while. I lurked on Reddit without an account for years before creating an account there, and during the Reddit drama last year, I lurked here and a few other places, but didn’t create an account anywhere until I actually wanted to participate.

I’m in the US, and this has been my technique too. I’ve found that listing things for free gets me people with a million questions and complications, but if I list something at a cheap price, the whole process is usually much smoother.
