I still have a FAT32 external drive that this (very) rarely still bites me 😫 there’s nothing important on it, so I’ve been lazy

Am I crazy or can you not be a lesbian if you’re non-binary
Sounds like the thing that will finally get me onto another platform. Sideloading is the only way around most of these companys’ draconian restrictions.
You only notice the bad updates. There are probably over a hundred good ones for each annoying one that you notice.
It’s another thing to walk around acting like the word your little brother made up is common place knowledge
Did anyone here do that? It seems more like someone tried to teach someone something, and someone else said “NO, THAT KNOWLEDGE ISNT COMMON ENOUGH, SHUT UP”
Look at Mr. Free Time over here with his 3 hours
You seem to think squeezing as much productivity out of them is the goal, but if we treated them like humans you might do better for them and in the long run your children.
I’m the one arguing that they don’t deserve to be your slave… I’m sorry you feel entitled to so much of their time. They’re overworked, understaffed, and have to deal with so many entitled parents.
Logging in the moment saves them literal hours. It also doesn’t mean you can’t talk to them, it just means you can focus on the important parts instead of wasting time that could be spent focusing on the children.
This one is mostly unrelated, but seems important: Do you think everyone’s memory is infallible, or that daycare workers are superheroes?

They’re not good at debugging. The article is pretty spot on, IMO - they’re great at doing the work; but you are still the brain. You’re still deciding what to do, and maybe 50% of the time how to do it, you’re just not executing the lowest level anymore. Similar for debugging - this is not an exercise at the lowest level, and needs you to run it.
It’s like you haven’t read a single reply
you would think they would have all these other workers that can cover while you talk to the parent.
So, literally the exact same scenario as the logging, except it takes 10-100x as long?
And what if you’re the special case?
Distrust? It helps to know if they napped or not, because that changes plans. Doctors ask about diaper change schedules. Bumps or scrapes are good to know about because not all effects are immediate.
It’s not about trust. People forget shit, and comm lines get crossed when you’re working with 4 other staff and 30 kids. Why rely on someone’s memory when the alternative is faster, more consistent, and more informative?
People in general are faulty machines with shitty brains and worse memories. Add on that they’re working in an extremely chaotic environment, usually overworked and understaffed. It would be literally fucking insane to expect them to remember everything that happened to every kid, and that’s not even factoring in that each of the staff has completely different touchpoints throughout the day.
If it’s important they’ll remember.
Absolutely fucking braindead take.
I turned out fine so it clearly was.
Not everyone else did.
You still ignored the first half.
Regardless, if they’re logging, you can talk to them about the important parts without wasting several hours of important staff time every day between all of the parents. This isn’t instead of talking to them, it’s in addition.
This is also just super useful for all of the staff. Did Timmy just have a snack? No he doesn’t need another. Did each staff member change Timmy’s diaper today? We wouldn’t have known it happened 5 times without the log, because that’s not something you talk about every time.
Sounds like a really good way to have half of these things forgotten throughout the day and never told to the parents 🤷♂️ logging this on the tablet takes literally 5 seconds, instead of having to spend 5 minutes with each parent at pickup
You either haven’t had kids or it’s been a reeeaaaally long time… We don’t support child care in the US, something like 80% of daycares are understaffed.
A few minutes talking to you (and every other parent at pickup) is way, way, waaaaay more time than the 5 seconds it takes to log each thing. You say “just,” but your request is at least 10x as expensive.
Honestly that is way, way more reasonable than I was expecting. This isn’t half as bad of an idea as I thought it would be
