How prevalent is moderation in chat. In mmo’s I have played you would have to block the person. I mean they would get reported and eventually banned. Can you not report people in valve chat?

can you block users???

eyup. I mean considering it was more about not having housing before and now its about not having food we can see where things are going.

was gonna say. they guy whos company is to to have all the information. mmmmmm.

I mean the brick and mortars sorta ruined the knowledgeable staff thing themselves although admittedly they had that issue where folks were deciding at the store and purchasing online. They really should never have allowed the tax exempt thing and forced online to compete on an even plane.

I still shop at stores more than online. Would be even more if so many had not gone tits up.

I mean I would love a linux distro that had a local agent that could answer queries. I view it as sorta like graphics compared to command line but if it needs networked resources outside of it doing its own searches. No thank you.

This made me look up freedom box.
I use tile but can’t say its privacy respecting necessarily.

I came to sorta say this. Regardless of the system if it can fail and if people have to recover an account then phishing will always be a thing. In person options to deal with an account like with bank branches or government offices are the only true way of making things more secure. I sometimes think it would make sense for this. One rare thing I have seen that gives me a bit of hope is the use of in person at the post office for us government accounts. Thats exactly how it should be done. Secretary of state for state and usps for federal. They are the only agencies with enough physical locations.

yeah and other deparments like education to.

yeah that stuff is about grabbing PhD’s with labs that have or could possibly win nobels and such or just is doing big things in technology. Bad for the us but not useful for people generally working in stem.

I was going to mention it seemed about right but it is worse than back then and I can’t put my finger on why and I think you have found it for me. Since stem across the board is being hit it makes it that much worse than just a tech meltdown.

Its kinda funny as I remember when people wanted a phone that could last all day because there was plenty of time to charge on the nightstand. Feels like batteries got way better and people got lazy about plugging them in.

Oh I agree here. I find I often really need to get to the “what exactly do you expect to do with it” as they will want something thinking it will help them with X but its not really what they want.

yeah although in the situation Im talking the issue isn’t the deadlines vs the technology we are configuring but in not getting the requirements from the various specialists for what they want out of it. I have encountered things like it all the time. Each team has their own priorities and they won’t really put in the effort until they are actually using the product regularly and then decide what they want out of it because its not giving them exactly what they want. Honestly can’t say it upsets me to much as ultimately it keeps me employed longer.

yeah i would be calling it twitter if not for xitter.

if they are still active the mmo’s champions online and star trek online are tab targeting and even allow for some scripting. I actually had posted on reddit that I would like for people with disabilities to know about them. the right builds can be done with input every so often that does not need to be split second (some roles do require a bit more timing but if its just one handed its toatlly doable)

Honestly the biggest problem I see is not getting requirements but being pushed for deadlines. I have been in monitoring solutioning lately and we constantly can’t get answers from teams on what they need and end up having to just analyzed the data as non specialists and do a best guess because we can’t just not have the solution happen.
So basically this guy started up late sunday and was still not banned by monday morning during a period that also had a massive tech fire across the industry with the cloudflare outage. Generally I found people were banned at most places within 24 hours so by this evening. I mean that is sorta a worse case timing example so im not sure im going to get all upset at lack of moderation quite yet. Honestly im not even sure if folks were banned in chats I have been in before as I only hear it second hand since I block shit I don’t want to see. I usually can tell from other folks reaction to it in the chat.
