Made several because instances were going down left and right at one point. Lol. Finally settled on slrpnk, and only ever use this one when I accidently log into it without paying attention.
32f is the same as 0c, and they’re both freezing. 0c is the temp at which brine freezes, but nobody really knows/cares about that. Where I live it down to -25f/-31c at least a few times a year, and normally you can expect at least a few weeks to a month below 32f/0c, but the last few years have been mild
Yeah, nah, I’m on the side of the government paying for utilities. Human right to electricity. Figure out a system to prevent overuse, but everyone deserves to have heating and cooling when needed.
That said, definitely wear a sweater in the winter if you can. Acclimate to the season and you’ll hate going outside a lot less, and need less heating in the winter. I typically don’t heat most of my home in the winter (I don’t have central heating). I just use a space heater in whatever room I’m in, and move it to the next room with me, and wear warm clothes. I’m in Tennessee, which routinely gets well below freezing in the winter. Not ideal, but it works
I’m not gonna lie, I straight up love taco bell. I avoided it for years and years because of the stereotype about it making you sick or being cheap and gross. Then I was out a few years ago and had 2 dollars in change and an empty belly. That shit was good and no stomach upset. It’s now my go to fast food, especially considering it’s easy as hell to get veggie options.
Also, gas/bloat is not specific to taco bell, it’s fucking beans. Eat anything with beans and you’re gonna get gassy. Not directed specifically at you, just anyone who needs to hear this.
When you say export, is there a tool for that for, like, mass exporting your subs? Or do I have to manually search each one and sub again?
I ask because I’ve been meaning to switch to my alt, but I made a point of subbing to as many communities as possible to make Lemmy more fun to use for me, and good lord, it’s a lot to do.
Imagine if it just gets a leak in the head and you don’t realize. Queef/fart from hell afterwards.

note to self: visit Germany soon
I honestly used to love a traffic jam on the way to work. An extra hour I wasn’t at work, just chillin’ listening to my music, not being at fucking work. It was great. If traffic was completely stopped, like put it in park, turn off the ignition stopped, then it was Netflix on my phone time baby.
Traffic jams on the way home suuuucked though. At the time real time traffic info in my area was spotty at best, though. Almost impossible to use as an excuse now.
I am ashamed to admit I have never tried this, and just learned to throat the hard way. :/
OMG, yes!
When I was like 11 or so, we had a company called EarthLink for Internet, and when we tried to cancel one month because we were broke, they gave us 3 months free. After the third time of that happening we realized we didn’t have to pay for Internet anymore, and spent the money on a second phone line instead.
It. Was. Glorious.
A wire coat hanger shoved into the back of the TV to get it working
Going next door to borrow the phone because you’ve been downloading something all day and didn’t want to lose it

Reread what I wrote. Every government functions under an ideology. Governments do not exist in a vacuum, they are a collection of people, and those people have a more or less unified set of ideals on how their society should function. Yes, ideologies exist only in the mind, but governments are a physical manifestations of that mental construct. Even when there is a major disagreement within a government, such as the division in the US currently, it’s still a difference of degrees. No one in the the US government is outside of capitalism, even so-called socialists like Bernie Sanders. The US government functions under the ideology of capitalism. The Cuban government functions under the ideology of socialism. Even if you argue that Cuba isn’t actually socialist, they still function under the ideology of socialism. Governments exist because of those mental constructs.
Every government functions under an ideology. Capitalism is an ideology, democracy is an ideology, socialism, anarchism, liberalism, conservativism, they’re all ideologies. An ideology is just a set of ideals.
I just finished TLA. I’d never seen it, and now I have, and it’s gone, and my life feels empty. Why would you bring this up? Why would you hurt me so?
Korra is good, but it doesn’t hit the same, and 70 years is not enough to fully industrialize a society.
I started using Linux in 2008. A friend of mine on an old forum showed me wubi and helped me get set up. When he went AWOL and stopped posting, I went on some Ubuntu forum and asked for help with a problem I was having (WiFi had stopped working randomly). Those people tore me apart and spit on my bloodied corpse. It was brutal. Apparently, I was a disgusting moron for using wubi instead of replacing windows (on my netbook with no disc drive) entirely. It was insane. I’ve since discovered that I’d just found a particularly toxic group by chance, and that most of the community is actually very kind. But at the time, it was genuinely hurtful. I not only stopped asking for help for a long time, I stopped learning about Linux and computers in general because I felt like it was something I’d never understand, I was clearly too stupid to get it.
10 years ago me and my mom worked jobs from home. I did CenturyLink (phone company) and HSN and QVC. She did dish network, directv and Eddie Bauer. It was easier then to find wfh jobs than it is now. Then it was unusual, but no stigma. Now it’s like you’re an evil clown bent on molesting the village’s sheep if you even suggest it. -_-
Also, gotta say, I love Lemmy, but it still weirds me out being recognized across multiple communities. Like, noticing the same users in one subreddit over and over, or being recognized in the sub is one thing. But on Lemmy I notice the same names pop up in multiple communities, and have had people continue conversations from one community in another because they recognize the username. It’s a weird experience. I feel like I’m in Mayberry. Lol
